Dear Trinity East Learning Community,

It’s amazing to think we already have one month of school completed.  I want to thank everyone for helping us to get off to an incredibly smooth start this school year.

Please remember to check our link on the District web site: www.trinitypride.org and go to the drop down under schools you will see Trinity East.  Once you click on that you will see my letter, current announcements and general news items.  Parents’ Club information will be posted here also.  This is the best way to stay up to date with events, activities and dates.

Act 138 of 2016 was signed by Gov. Tom Wolf  and went into effect with the 2017-18 school year. It gives clearer guidelines for truancy standards and penalties. The parents/guardians of the child are charged with the responsibility for the child’s school attendance. The Board considers the following conditions to constitute reasonable cause for absence from school; illness; quarantine; death in immediate family; impassable roads; recovery from accident/physical injury; required court attendance; religious holiday and reasons properly deemed to be urgent by the building principal.

While we expect each child to attend school daily, if you child is ill or has a fever, we ask that you do keep him/her home.  Children must be fever free for 24 hours before they should return to school.  A note from a doctor or parent must accompany your child upon returning to school so we can count the day as an excused absence.

During the last week of October, we will have a Spirit Week.  Please check your child’s October calendar and encourage them to wear the spirit apparel to school that day.

October is filled with many activities for our students and staff. We will be having a “Fire Prevention” the week of October 10th that will include a “Fire Prevention Day” with our very own South Strabane Volunteer Fire Department.

Picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11th.

Our Second Annual “Trunk or Treat” will be held on Thursday, October 27th

(5:30pm - 7 :00pm) at Trinity East. We will have games, prizes, and a “Trunk or Treat” contest with plenty of goodies. Please plan on attending this very special event with your child. Additional information will be sent home with your child from the PFC.

PFC monthly meeting is on Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 6:30pm in the cafeteria

Red Ribbon week will kick off the week of October 24th for drug and alcohol awareness.  Our 3rd grade classrooms will be involved in a county-wide door decorating contest sponsored by the Washington County Drug & Alcohol Commission.

2-Hour Early Dismissal on Friday, Oct. 28th. Students will be dismissed at 1:20pm.

Every Friday in October will be “Blue and White” Hiller day.

The month will end with our annual Halloween parade and classroom parties on Friday, October 28th. The parade will begin at 9:30am followed by class parties at 10:00am.
